Dr. McNeil-Amorteguy completed dental school in 1988; under graduate studies at UCLA.  She has enjoyed a dental practice in San Luis Obispo since 1991.  Time outside the office is shared with her family and friends, hiking, traveling, reading and cooking.  Her volunteer work includes fundraising for the American Heart Association.

Rita Vogl, Patient Coordinator

Rita moved in August 2011 from New York to San Luis Obispo, when her husband Howard decided to accept a faculty position at Cal Poly State University.

In Rochester, NY, Rita worked for Xerox Corporation as an analyst for global supply and demand. She obtained a Masters Degree in Human Resource Management at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Rita also obtained Six Sigma certification while working with the international team at Xerox. She is excited to apply her experience as a member of Dr. Amorteguy’s team.

Rita and Howard have two children, Wayne, and his wife Robyn, live in Buffalo, NY with young children Dylan and Tyler; and Natalie, who lives in Rochester, NY.  Although it’s challenging to be so far from family and friends, Rita looks forward to a new adventure in the Central Coast as well as many visits by family and friends to this beautiful area.  In her spare time, Rita enjoys cooking, reading and making hand-made soap.

Janet Johnson, Registered Dental Assistant

Janet is a native of the Central Coast. She was raised in Cayucos, graduated high school at Coast Joint Union in Cambria and then graduated Cuesta College with her AS degree.  She then went to Pasadena City College and graduated as a Registered and Certified Dental Assistant.  She has been enjoying this position for over 30 years.  During that time she continued her education to be trained in Dental Implant Placement and Dental Tissue Grafting and is happy in being a part of Dr. Amorteguy’s dental staff.

Janet and her husband, Dennis, have two sons who are in college.  Janet’s hobbies include caring for her horse, cattle, and dogs.

 

Lisa Morgan, Financial and Insurance Coordinator

Lisa is a California native who graduated from the McVey School of Medical Business Management.  She brings over 20 years combined experience working in both medical and dental field front office positions with an emphasis on assisting patients with insurance billing and the appeals process.

Sharon Dvorak, Registered Dental Hygienist

Born in Honolulu, raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sharon moved to San Luis Obispo in 1983 after her husband accepted a position with the City of San Luis Obispo.  She is the mother of three adult children.

Sharon has enjoyed serving the dental health needs of her patients since her graduation from Foothill College in Los Altos Hills in 1971.  The three-month European trip she took after graduation sparked her love for travel and the international community.  When her children were young, the family participated in two successful European home exchanges.  Now empty nesters, Sharon and her husband have continued traveling.  She is always seeking out their next overseas adventure.

Sharon started working for Dr. Amorteguy in December 1999 and looks forward to many more years of service.

Summer Chafin, Registered Dental Hygienist

Summer is a native of the Central Coast.  She graduated from Templeton High School and then attended Cuesta College receiving an AA in General Education.  Later, she continued her education at Allen Hancock College receiving an AS in Dental Assisting.

Summer worked for Dr. Amorteguy for 2 years as her Dental Assistant before attending Dental Hygiene School in Fresno California.  She enjoys working in an extremely organized office that also takes the time and care for patients with dental phobias. 

Summer is a member of ADHA, she has also volunteered for Save Our Smiles Clinics in our county.  She enjoys shopping, road biking, hiking, and traveling.

Cathy DelRe, Registered Dental Hygienist

Born and raised in Southern California, Cathy began her career in Dentistry in 1970. She practiced as a Registered Dental Assistant for 9 years until the birth of her daughter in 1979. Cathy moved with her family in 1981 to the Central Coast, returned to Southern California in 1986 in order to earn her degree in Dental Hygiene at Cypress College in 1990. Her love for the Central Coast and a strong desire to raise her family in a healthy environment, brought her to San Luis Obispo a year later.

Cathy has worked in both General and Periodontal Dental Practices. She believes that dental health is best achieved through a multi-faceted approach, paired with care and understanding of the needs of each patient.

Cathy lives in Nipomo with husband Tom enjoying travel, hiking, sports, good food and fine with friends and family.

Ona Probst, Registered Dental Hygienist

Ona was born in California but, lived in Idaho, Arizona and Pennsylvania. She is settled in Santa Maria with her husband and two children.

She attended the Dental Assisting program at Allan Hancock College earning her license as a Registered Dental Assistant. She worked in dentistry for several years before returning to school. She received her training for dental hygiene from Taft College. The dental hygiene part of patient care is a great place for her; Ona would like all her patients to have a positive experience.

Ona enjoys spending time with her family, collecting sea shells at the beach with her granddaughter, volunteering in her community and traveling.

Carrina Silvera, Clinical Assistant

Carrina moved from the coast of Washington to live near her family in San Luis Obispo in 1999.  She graduated from Willapa Valley High School and went on to earn a certificate in Massage in 2003.  Carrina attends Cuesta College and is pursuing an Associates Degree in Nursing. 

The voice you will hear when you receive your reminder calls is Carrina’s as she helps around the office, keeping everyone organized, completing daily duties as well as special projects. 

Carrina enjoys spending time with friends, family, scrap booking and baking.  She also does volunteer work in the county and believes that laughter is nature’s medicine to a long and wonderful life.
